• Third, continued: The three theological virtues and equivalent sins.

JAMB FIGURES
Right:
• Isaiah - hold flowering stem, the "rod out of Jesse." Jessee beneath.
• Jeremiah - with Greek cross
• Simeon - testified of Christ at the Presentation at the Temple, holds the infant Christ.
• John the Baptist - note coat of camel hair, and he points to the lamb of God. Dragon beneath.
• Peter - dressed as pope, the continuity with Melchizedek, his opposite on the left. He stands on the rock.

Window 054 - Saint Germain of Auxerre [pre AD 1236] (restored)
In many places, the left right pairing shows a "cause and effect" relationship. The window is difficult to photograph with the east wall buttresses of the north trancept, and the "Our Lady of the Pillar" adoration with candles et al. in front of it.
• Row 05: Demon spreads disease; Germain heals his flock.
• Row 06: Saint Germain and Saint Loup sail to England despite a demon-raised tempest; Saint Germain calms the storm.
• Row 07: Saint Germain preaches in England; he heals a blind girl.
• Row 08: Demons set fire to area in which the two missionaries are living (2 panels).
• Row 09: Germain has horse stolen en route to Italy; Thief brings the horse back and Germain blesses him.
• Row 10: Germain dies at Revenna; Soul ascends to heaven.

† Window 145 - North rose: Rose of France glorifying the Virgin (restored)
Virgin in center with Infant Jesus. Surrounded by four doves, four angels, and four Thrones. These are followed by twelve kings of Judah, Mary's ancestors. The outer ring contains twelve minor prophets.
The window was donated while Queen Blanche was regent of France (circa 1230). The arms of France alternating with Castile are seen below the rose itself. The entire ensemble is a none-too-subtle bit of royal propaganda, with Mary (the Queen of Heaven) at the center of it all. Note too that the figures below the rose in the lancets contrast a legitimate righteous sovereign with corrupt, foolish, or fallen ones. Blanche seems to have wanted no doubt about how she ought to be considered.

• Row 10: Crusaders battle Moors; Miracle of the Flowering Lances: the night prior to battle, those fated to die had flowers appear on their lances, proof of their blessed state as future martyrs.
• Diamond 11: Roland battles King Marsile of the Saracens [some sources say batles giant Ferragus/Ferracutus, but the armor does not match].
• Row 12: Rolland kills giant Ferragus/Ferracutus; Ganelon urges Charlemagne to return home to France.
