• Christ in glory sits in the center, surrounded by symbols of the four gospel authors (evangelists):
• Matthew - winged man
• Mark - winged lion
• Luke - winged ox or bull
• John - eagle
• In the lintel beneath, the twelve apostles are in four groups of three.
• To their immediate left stands Elijah; to their right stands Enoch.
• The first archivolt: twelve angels.
• The second and third archivolts: twenty-four elders of the apocalypse (see Revelation 4:4).

INNER ARCH
• First archivolt: twelve angels bearing sun, moon, and stars.
• Second archivolt: life of Gideon
Right: (story starts in bottom left of arch, so these events are in reverse order)
† Dressed in armor (medieval!) he leads two Mideanites captive after defeating them in battle.
† Gideon wrings water from fleece;
† Gideon offers sacrifice;
† Gideon visited by angel while he winnows corn;
† Dragon;
• Third archivolt: life Judith (prefiguring Mary)
Right: (story starts in bottom left of arch, so these events are in reverse order)
† Judith has cut of head of Holofernes, which servant places in sack.
† Kneels at foot of Holofernes (note parallels with Esther opposite);
• Fourth archivolt: Tobias, son of Tobit, who restored vision to his father as Christ would to Israel (starting at top of arch, continued from bottom left of the arch);
† Tobias travels with dog (fidelity) and angel watching;
† Tobias meets Raguel, Sarah's father;
† Tobias marries Sarah, and they pray in bedroom on wedding night;

JAMB FIGURES
Right:
• Isaiah - hold flowering stem, the "rod out of Jesse." Jessee beneath.
• Jeremiah - with Greek cross
• Simeon - testified of Christ at the Presentation at the Temple, holds the infant Christ.
• John the Baptist - note coat of camel hair, and he points to the lamb of God. Dragon beneath.
• Peter - dressed as pope, the continuity with Melchizedek, his opposite on the left. He stands on the rock.

• Moses - with brazen serpent on the pole, symbol of Christ's crucifixion. Golden calf beneath.
• Samuel - sacrifices a lamb.
