Bottom to top, left to right:
• Row 10: Chariots of the pagan moon and sun (which the apostles would not worship) • Row 11: Two angels (modern) replaced an older scene showing the saints' martyrdom.
†North side, lancets, left to right: True versus false sovereigns (restored)
• Window 145C - North side, far left lancet: Melchizedek standing over Nebuchadnezzar (true king over the false Babylonian pretender to world-lordship, worshipping idol of his dream).
Donated in 1971 by German Association of Friends of Chartres Cathedral. Theme of peace and reconcilliation.
Four crosses make up the window. • Lowest Center bears the Ten Commandments, source of salvation. • Left - Burning bush (revelation through natural phenomenon) • Right - Menorrah

• Paul (note the omnipresent baldness) with sword, instrument of his beheading. • St. John (no beard, young, dressed as priest; has book in left hand and broken palm--symbol of chastity--in the right.) Stands on a man offering cup of serpents, cf miracle he performed. • St. James the Greater (of Peter, James, and John). Has belt of shells--the "coquilles St. Jacques" [scallops] were his symbol and often worn by pilgrims. • St James the Less • St. Bartholomew (broken flaying knife; instrument of his martyrdom).
