Description
This is a commentary on Matthew 19-20; Mark 10; and Luke 18 the text for Lesson 19 in the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual for 2023. These are five chapters that conclude Jesus’ training of the Twelve as they journeyed to Jerusalem. This concludes the portion which I called the Matthew Endowment. Here Jesus teaches the law of chastity and issues about divorce. Then there are teachings about prayer at another level and finally His teachings on the law of consecration. Matthew’s portion of this lesson concludes with a parable that teaches us that our covenants with God are one-on-One—each individual with the Lord. Mark’s chapter teaches us about what it means to be the greatest in the kingdom and how we might better come to Christ in the example of blind Bartemæus. Luke’s chapter in this lesson speaks of pride, prayer, and the rich man’s question: What must we do to inherit eternal life. All in all it’s a worthwhile lesson. pp.24
