Description

This is a commentary on Moses 1 and Abraham 3—the text for Lesson 1, “This is my Work and My Glory” in the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual for 2022. The first few pages are an introduction to the Old Testament. If you’ve already been introduced, then you could skip that I suppose. It will also provide an overview of how we will study it this year in these commentaries. Moses 1 is part of the Joseph Smith Translation of Genesis, and Abraham is a Restoration scripture that gives a parallel vision to the one which is recounted by Moses in Moses 1. These two chapters give us a view of who we all are and what we’re doing here. They are some of the underpinnings of the plan of salvation. We shall do a little cosmology and astrophysics. We will also look quite closely at our doctrine of pre-mortal existence—a unique doctrine largely lost in normative Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. We shall also have a look at spiritual temper tantrums and their remedy, and note how God treated Moses’ attention deficit disorder. pp.52
