This is a commentary on John 11 and Luke 12-17 the text for Lesson 18 in the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual for 2023. These are seven chapters that are packed with important doctrinal teachings. We will meet the 7th sign in John’s “book of signs”—bringing Lazarus back to life. We shall ponder a bit on what it means to have a God who weeps. We will also see what it takes to have Jesus call you a “fool”. We will look at the cost of discipleship. We will ponder the parables of the wedding feast and the rich fool and the unjust steward. We will glance at “fried chicken” excuses, and look closely at lost things: sheep, coins, and sons. The prodigal son’s story will take a bit of space. We will see the ten lepers come and go, look at some signs of the time and finish with the gathering of Israel. pp. 39
