Description

This is a commentary on Genesis 34-41—the text for Lesson 11, “The Lord Was with Joseph” in the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual for 2022. We will take up a couple of chapters that the manual doesn’t consider for reasons that will be apparent. We will follow the story of Dinah, Jacob’s only daughter. Esau’s descendants will be noted and the pop song the Duke of Earl will be partially explained. Joseph’s story will begin with fraternal jealousies and his short-sleeved coat of no particular colours. There were technicolor dreams, but not the coat. We will take a seeming detour into Judah and Tamar’s life, but it will be very relevant as Joseph is sold into Egypt and encounters Potiphar’s wife and then Potiphar’s prison. The dreamer will interpret three dreams and the last will be Pharaoh’s which will propel him to the second seat in the kingdom—a great finish. pp. 48.
