Description

This is a commentary on Exodus 1-6—the text for Lesson 13, “I Have Remembered my Covenant” in the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual for 2022.

In this lesson we will begin the story of the deliverance of the children of Israel from bondage in Egypt. We will meet Moses and begin to see how he is a type of Christ.  We will also get a very good look at the role that women play in the plan of salvation broadly and intimately in individual lives. This rebirth of Israel will turn almost completely on women. There’s also another ark story and a well story. You’d almost think we were back in Genesis.

We will learn some things about the name of God and what that implies about Him. We shall study the birth, childhood, marriage, and call of Moses as a prophet and his return to Egypt and initial meetings with Pharaoh.  We will leave the story in mid-stream. This is a gentle spot of reading this week.

I’ve appended a little photographic study on some medieval art ideas on witnesses of Christ from a portal on Chartres Cathedral—it’s appended at the end and is easily skipped if that sort of thing isn’t of interest to you.  p.36
